Preen - Spring 2014

I just had to make a post about a new label I've discovered. As a devoted reader of The Fug Girls I came across this post about a pretty fab outfit Kiernan Shipka wore to an event recently.

She looks gorgeous and her decision to wear the blouse tucked in receives a thumbs up from me.
The hemline is fantastic, jagged yet clean. Much more interesting than a scallop print in my personal opinion. I love interesting digital prints and Preen certainly delivers in this respect. A colourful combination of geometry and floral is lovely but I'm not a fan of the stark white that seems to feature throughout their current collection. Some bold colours or even some black versions of their garments would be terrific. I thought I'd include some of my favourites from this collection...

I'm not digging the weird proportions of the tiny colour and massive sleeves. If the collar was a teeny bit larger I'd like this a whole lot more. The shape and print on the dress and the flowing line where the dress is fastened are beautiful but where the line ends at the hem is irritating. I'm a strictly over the knee skirt and dress gal and if this hem weren't asymmetrical I'd love it.

Jacket = AMAZING. I want it in my life.
Skirt = Terrific with the print and jagged hem but I wish it sat higher on the waist. I just think it's thoroughly unflattering at that length to sit at the hips.

Again, the jacket... INCREDIBLE. The print is delightful and the length of it is great, I'm holding off on googling the prices of these two gorgeous jackets as I don't wish to be horrified by it.
The dress is a pink that I really like. I wouldn't wear it personally but this is a much more agreeable length for me and the fabric has a nice sheen to it.

I briefly checked out their other collections and I'm impressed. I'll definitely keep an eye on this label in the future and one day when I'm rich and famous I might wear their clothing to an event.

This post is an interlude from my exam study. Once I complete these exams I AM FREE. Until I begin my summer job two days after. I will find opportunities to blog again though, and it shall be delightful.

PS. My blog isn't showing on Bloglovin [darnit] due to an issue with my RSS feeds. Any advice on this would be appreciated. At this stage I need to learn how to change my Atom feed to a 'proper' RSS... This is so not my area of expertise...

The wonderful functions of safety pins

I've had this delightful frock for years now but it's mid-calf length deterred me from wearing it. I love crafting and deconstructing dresses but the thought of cutting into such a beautiful garment was too painful. I also thought this would serve as a great Mary Poppins costume at its original length.

So what does one do in a situation such as this? Well, an hour before my friend's 18th a few months back I decided this was the dress I would wear and decided to get crafty. One of my favourite bloggers, Rebecca from The Clothes Horse, often reinvents her delightful clothing and uses safety pins to change her hems. This served as inspiration for me to cautiously alter this. Whilst I guess it may be considered a temporary adjustment, I plan to keep it this way until the pins stick me. I've worn it on several occasions since that party and they have not yet hurt me.

Cut and Paste Funtimes

A few weeks ago I set aside a Sunday to make a collage - because why the hell not? Of course I spent a majority of the time watching Buffy whilst sifting through my endless piles of scrapbooking paper. I was also cursing the amount of paper I have collected and hoping that a majority of it was made from recycled materials...

Anyhow, here are the two collages I made.

This is a me and my best friend, Hannah, in a feminist wonderland.

Me. And flowers. Yep.

Anyhow, I hope to make more at some stage in the future featuring other friends but the whole 'It's My Final Year At School Don't Procrastinate Too Much' thing has to be taken into consideration.

[Oh and blogging is another procrastination technique of mine I've avoided this year but come November, I WILL START BLOGGING REGULARLY AND I CAN'T WAIT]
